Quick answer: A 2012–2018 Toyota Auris (E180) runs 195/65 R15 on 15" wheels, 205/55 R16 on 16" or 225/45 R17 on 17" alloys. The earlier 2007–2012 Auris (E150) ran 205/55 R16 or 215/45 R17. Every Auris uses a 5 × 114.3 mm bolt pattern with a 60.1 mm centre bore, and the offset changes with wheel size: ET39 on 15s, ET45 on 16s.

The Thing That Catches Auris Owners Out
The 17" tyre size changed between generations. A 2007–2012 Auris (E150) on 17s takes 215/45 R17; a 2012–2018 Auris (E180) on 17s takes 225/45 R17. Same wheel diameter, same bolt pattern, 10 mm difference in width, and because the E150 was still common when the E180 arrived, plenty of "Auris 17 inch" wheel-and-tyre sets are the wrong one for the car they end up on. Check the sidewall, or check the wheel part number against the table below.

The E180 is the Auris we break most, and the 16" wheel on 205/55 R16 is its standard fitment: 13 of the 25 E180 wheels we've recorded, and the one we most often have in stock. The 15" size sits on the lower trims; we've only recorded a single 17" wheel, so we've listed the 225/45 R17 size for reference rather than as confirmed data.
One thing we've deliberately left out: four E180 17" wheels in our records are listed with a 205/55 R17 tyre (Toyota wheel 42611-02C60). That size has a rolling diameter 4% larger than every other E180 fitment, which is more than a speedometer will tolerate, so we suspect a non-standard tyre was fitted before the car reached us. We've flagged it rather than publish it as a fitment.
The 2015 facelift (the "keen look" front end, LED lights and the 1.2 turbo petrol) didn't change the wheel fitment: a 2013 and a 2017 E180 take the same wheels. The Auris Hybrid, which is most E180s in the UK, uses these same sizes.

The E150 split fairly evenly between 16" and 17" wheels in our yard. The 17" wheel with Toyota number 42611-02E00 also turns up on the first Auris Hybrid, launched in 2010. One E150 wheel came to us on 205/50 R17, a single sighting we've left out of the table. The 2010 facelift changed the front and rear styling but not the wheel fitment.

Two common examples: a 2010 Auris is a MK1 (E150), so 205/55 R16 or 215/45 R17. A 2015 Auris is a MK2 (E180), so 195/65 R15, 205/55 R16 or 225/45 R17. The E180 arrived on 62-plate cars in autumn 2012, so a 2012 Auris could be either: the E180 is lower and wider with a much more angular front. The Auris was replaced by the Corolla name in 2019.
Toyota Auris Hybrid Tyre Size
The E180 Auris Hybrid takes the same sizes as the petrol car: most of the hybrids we break are on the 16" wheel and 205/55 R16, with 195/65 R15 on the lower trims. The first-generation Hybrid (2010–2012, E150) sat on the 17" wheel and 215/45 R17, which is a size that's easy to get wrong if you assume "Auris Hybrid" means the newer car.

So the Auris offset steps up 6 mm with each wheel size. Both the 15" ET39 and 16" ET45 figures match Toyota's published fitment, which is a good sign the wheels we're measuring are genuine and unmolested. Don't assume the offset from the size. Read the ET number cast into the back of the wheel. The wrong offset is what causes rubbing on the arch or strut even when the bolt pattern is correct.

How to Read Your Own Tyre Size
The tyre itself is the final authority. Look on the sidewall for something like 205/55 R16 91V:
- 205: tread width in millimetres
- 55: aspect ratio: sidewall height as a percentage of the width
- R: radial construction
- 16: wheel diameter in inches. This must match your wheel.
- 91: load index
- V: speed rating
Across the Auris tyres we've recorded, the load index was 91 (615 kg per tyre), with a mix of H (130 mph), V (149 mph) and W (168 mph) ratings; the W-rated tyre was on a 17" wheel. On a hybrid, which is heavier at the back than the petrol car, don't drop below the load index on the placard inside the door shut.
What About the Spare Wheel?
Most petrol E180s were supplied with a space-saver spare under the boot floor; the Hybrid's battery sits under the rear seat, so many hybrids came with a tyre-repair kit and no spare. A space-saver carries its own size on the sidewall and is speed-limited to 50 mph. If yours is missing, a genuine used space-saver is the cheapest way back to a real spare.
